Google Appears to Have Nexus 10 Tablet in the Pipeline

Well, we thought Google’s Oct. 29 event was going to focus around a few things, including the Nexus 7, the next Nexus Android smartphone and Android 4.2. We expect the company will introduce a $199 32GB Nexus 7 tablet and drop the price of the 8GB model down to $99. We also think it will unveil the LG Nexus 4, the highly rumored follow-up to the Galaxy Nexus. Now, it appears there could be yet another announcement up the company’s sleeves.

A Google Picasa user recently uploaded a photo with EXIF data that reveals a device called the Nexus 10, which hints at a 10-inch Android tablet, as well as software version JVP12C. Fishy. SamMobile┬ásays the rumored specs currently include a 2,560 x 1,920-pixel 10.1-inch display and a dual-core Cortex A-15 processor. That’s a sharp move away from the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 in the current Nexus 7, but maybe Google wants to keep the price of its 10-inch model down too.

We’ll know more in just over a week. We can’t imagine why Google wouldn’t announce this while it discusses Android in general. Otherwise it will need to hold an entirely separate event. Then again, this could always just be another rumor.
