Not only is a 32GB Nexus 7 a very real possibility, but so is one that has cellular capabilities. According to a filing with the NCC (Taiwan’s version of the FCC), an “ASUS Pad” with WCDMA 3G is in the pipeline, though information regarding price, release date and storage size is unknown.
It’s not an all too surprising revelation, especially considering Apple’s iPad mini is rumored to offer a cellular option, while Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD has an interesting 4G selection. Google has to keep up to stay competitive. I just wonder how much the price will be raised if this does come to pass.
The search giant has an Android-focused event set for Oct. 29, where it’s likely we’ll see a bit of news on the company’s Nexus 7 and its new Nexus-branded smartphone(s). Whether that means an official announcement of a new cellular version is coming — or a 32GB iteration — remains to be seen.
