I’ve personally never been a fan of the multiplayer arm of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Since its inception, I’ve always felt the mode was nothing more than a tack-on, meant to satiate the needs of gamers and investors alike.
Give a game a multiplayer mode and you slightly increase its chances of lasting longer on retail shelves, or so the logic goes for a lot of suits in the industry.
The campaign element in these games is typically what I buy them for.
I am, however, excited to see that Ubisoft is trying out a few new modes in the multiplayer facet of Assassin’s Creed III. In the trailer above, you’ll catch a glimpse of the Deathmatch, Wolfpack and Domination modes. Deathmatch is what it sounds like, a rumble to the death without much in the way of rules.
Wolfpack and Domination, however, are modes that sport both cooperative and team-based play.
Assassin’s Creed III will launch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on October 30th. It will sell for the Wii U on November 18th. Will you be playing the multiplayer mode?
