Halloween grows ever-closer and for those wanting to play something themed for the holiday without pulling out a classic, Sleeping Dogs has you covered.

United Front Games announced at New York Comic Con this past weekend the upcoming release of new Halloween-themed DLC called Nightmare in North Point, set to release October 30th.

Polygon‘s Samit Sarkar writes, “Nightmare in North Point tells the story of a gang member whom the Triad tortured and killed; here, he comes back to life with an army of the undead, and it’s up to protagonist Wei Shen to take care of the threat.”

This download takes the tired Just Add Zombies formula down a new path by mixing in Chinese mythology. In addition to the armies of undead, Wei will fight Jiang Shi, or vampires as depicted in Chinese myth. Despite the recent announcement of Darkstalkers returning, a cameo from Hsien Ko is highly unlikely.

No price has been announced yet, but Square Enix told Polygon that the download “will offer a few hours’ worth of content.”

That last note makes me a bit sad. One of my favorite expansions this generation so far has been Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, and I’d love to see a product of similar scope for Sleeping Dogs. Chinese mythology is rich with neat monsters that could be used for a game like this. The Xiezhi, a monster that represents justice and can tell truth from lies, would fit into the game’s themes perfectly while adding some cool supernatural elements.
