32GB Nexus 7 Pops up in Japan

32GB Nexus 7

Google has yet to officially announce a 32GB version of its Nexus 7 tablet. Right now, the company only sells 8GB and 16GB models, but recent reports have suggested that a 32GB option is on the way. Well, that appears to be confirmed, since a consumer in Japan who recently ordered a 16GB Nexus 7 actually received a 32GB model. That is, of course if the above screen shot, which shows 27.58GB of available space, is to be believed.

The consumer, who goes by @oppese on Twitter, published the above image as well as a second one that shows a 16GB box. Clearly, if this is legitimate, it was an accident on Google’s end. But we’re also guessing that this is a sign a 32GB model will be available soon. Considering that the 16GB Nexus 7 is available for $199, and that the 32GB costs $299, we’re guessing it’s going to fall in around the $399 mark.

Who knows, though? Maybe Google will drop the prices of its earlier models by $100 each and dominate the 7-inch market with a $99 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet.
