Out of the hundred global companies on Interbrand’s 2012 Best-Of list, Apple came in at number two with a $76.5 billion valuation. For all the criticism the company faced over the last several months — same old, same old — Apple had a fantastic year with the new iPad, iPhone 5 and MacBook Pro with Retina spearheading its growing lineup of products. Google came in at an impressive number four. And Samsung? Ninth.
Samsung has enjoyed plenty of success in its own right in 2012, offering up some of the best Android devices money can buy. It hasn’t quite been able to replicate that same success in the tablet market, but it definitely owns the phablet hybrid niche.
Apple actually earned Interbrand’s “top riser” award for making an 18 spot leap in just three years; last year, the company sat at number 11. Today, there’s not much sitting between it and Coca-Cola, while the difference between an Apple and Microsoft is night and day.
