Sony Xperia Go, Xperia Sola, Xperia U Getting Android Ice Cream Sandwich From Today

Sony Xperia U

Staying true to its promise of upgrading almost all of its 2011 Xperia devices to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Sony has announced that the much-anticipated upgrade for the Xperia go, Xperia sola, and the Xperia U will begin its rollout today.

It will be hitting unlocked devices first, of course — as all Android updates do — while those of you with a locked device will receive it once your carrier has completed its necessary testing. The update will be coming over-the-air, so you should receive a notification on your handset once yours is ready to download. You can also check for the update manually via the ‘About’ menu in the Settings app.

In addition to the performance improvements Ice Cream Sandwich brings, users can also look forward to new features, including a new media playing experience, a better lock screen, and a new “extended standby mode.” Those with an Xperia sola will also get a new “Glove Mode,” which takes advantage of its floating touch feature to allow you to operate the device with gloves on — just in time for the chilly seasons ahead of us.

Has the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade arrived on your Xperia handset yet?
