The Boston Tea Party is one of the most famous events leading up to the American Revolutionary War. In the States, kids are taught, whether they understand it or not, about the idea of taxation without representation and how trouble with it came to a head in Boston in 1773.
Everyone knows about the Tea Party in the U.S. Ubisoft takes that assumed knowledge in the trailer you see above, and offers that they will tell a completely different story of the American Revolution with Assassin’s Creed III.
Personally, as a minor buff of U.S. history, the idea that a game will toy with the past and build a new fiction around it is always enticing for me. But, as a gamer, I don’t think I can recall any single time that they history being toyed with was that of the birth of my nation.
If Assassin’s Creed III can successfully wrap American history around the world of Templar and Assassin, this might make for an enthralling ride into a land of conspiracy and intrigue.
Assassin’s Creed III is set to launch for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 30th. It was also recently confirmed as a launch game for Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U.
