Instagram is no longer letterboxed on the iPhone 5. Hooray. The popular app received an upgrade on Tuesday that brings it completely up-to-date with both iOS 6 and the iPhone 5’s taller 4-inch display. For how immensely popular the social sharing app is, it was slightly surprising not to see an update the day Apple’s latest device was launched. But hey, waiting a full four days to see a proper implementation is more than fine.
Aside from the obvious, Instagram says there is an improved password recovery and a redesigned registration flow. We gave the updated app a quick spin and it’s definitely a more enjoyable experience on the stretched screen. More information is there to consume, and implementing filters is slightly different because the options no longer sit atop the photo you’re editing (as you can see above).
