Who says only boys can be gamers? Certainly not Nintendo, which is clearly targeting female players for its new 3DS ads in October.

When the company launches the “Play As You Are” campaign for the handheld product next month, it will put female stars front and center. On tap are Dianna Agron (Glee) playing ”Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask,” Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) rocking “Style Savvy: Trendsetters,” and Gabrielle Douglas (gold medal–winning U.S. Olympic gymnast) running and jumping her way through “New Super Mario Bros. 2.”

Looks like a decent variety, and it’s refreshing to see games that aren’t just meant for girls thrown in there (unless you consider Mario a chick pick).
