What’s been particularly lacking with upcoming Windows 8 devices are release dates. We’ve been teased with vague time frames, but not much has been etched in stone despite the OS coming on Oct. 26. But I guess if you’re Lenovo, sharing launch dates isn’t that big a deal.
At this week’s PepCom, a company representative was asked when Lenovo’s excellent ThinkPad 2 — a device we got a brief hands-on with at IFA — would hit the streets. As it turns out, the very same day when Windows 8 launches, according to Lenovo. And the device, which comes with a 10.1-inch IPS display (1366×768), 8-megapixel camera, NFC and promised 1-hour battery life, will come with a price tag of $799.
The price is on the higher side, to be sure, but when you consider the specs, inclusion of an attachable keyboard, and the fact that the device runs Windows 8 Pro, it’s no so bad. Of course, Microsoft has its own home bred devices on the way, so we might want to watch out for pricing on that before we decide on which to buy.
