iPhone 5 Passes Drop Test, Doesn’t Shatter (Video)

Well, this is refreshing. After two generations of iPhones that shattered, it appears that Apple has built a device that can withstand more than a few drops. The folks over at iFixYouri took the iPhone 5 and dropped it several times to test the durability. Turns out it does quite well.

First, the bunch tried to scratch the screen with a key, and the iPhone 5 appeared to pass with flying colors. Then they just stood and let it drop to the floor several times, even on tile. It’s kind of painful to watch at times, especially when it’s forcefully tossed at the floor. We definitely thought the screen was going to shatter into a billion pieces at some point, but it didn’t. Eventually the frame finally bent when it was dropped from shoulder height, but who’s actually going do to that?

Not too shabby!
