Nearly a month before the device gets officially unveiled by Asus, the specs for the Padfone 2 have reportedly spilled onto the Web for all to see. We expected a solid offering from the company that brought us the Transformer line, but this just sounds awesome.
There are plenty of amazing Android handsets slated to hit in the next few months, and it seems the Padfone 2 will more than hold its own against the competition. According to the above screenshot, the device will cary with it a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 4.7-inch Super IPS+ display, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera (1.2-megapixel up front), a 2,140mAh battery and an unspecified version of Android (hopefully 4.1!).
The device will support LTE networks as well, sport Bluetooth 4.0 and will measure just 9mm thick. That’s a pretty respectable device, and you can bet it’ll come with Asus’s signature build, which has been solid over the past few years. Remember, this is a device that acts as a smartphone and a tablet/laptop (with the accessory), giving it a big edge over the more well known handsets on (or coming to) the market.
We’ll see if these specs are on the money when Asus announces the device on Oct. 16.
