ZTE Announces Blade III: Its Latest Affordable Android

ZTE has added another affordable Android smartphone to its lineup today in the form of the Blade III, the third device in its growing Blade family. The device boasts a 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800) display, a 1GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and 512MB of RAM.

Users can also look forward to a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, 4GB of internal storage — expandable via the microSD card slot — and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed.

ZTE says the Blade III’s large display and Android 4.0 operating system provide users with a “sharp” multimedia experience without breaking the bank:

“With Blade III we have paid extra attention to our users. We have focused on a larger screen and expanded the storage space significantly. ZTE Blade III is the first ever smartphone in its price range with a 4-inch touch screen and Android 4.0. This enables more users to take part in an extremely sharp multimedia experience, without costing an arm and a leg,” said Mr. Ao Wen, Vice President of Europe Operations for ZTE Handsets.

The Blade III will make its debut in Finland this month, then in Sweden in October with a SIM-free price tag of 1499 SEK (approx. $230). The handset will then rollout to “other key markets” in Europe and around the world “throughout 2012.” However, I think the company may have meant to put 2013 in its press release.
