Several Companies Now Offering Passbook Support for iPhone, iPod touch

Passbook iOS 6

Target, and several other firms, announced on Thursday that each will support Apple’s new iOS 6 Passbook feature on iPhone and iPod touch devices.

“We’re thrilled to bring our guests the ability to use Target Mobile Coupons via Passbook on their iPhone and iPod touch,” Target.com vice president Phil McKoy said. “Passbook marks an exciting step forward as Target continues to seek the most innovative ways to deliver a great shopping experience to our guests.” Target’s mobile coupons can also be accessed from the company’s application, which is available for free from the iTunes App Store.

Who else supports the app? According to the Passbook app in the App Store support is also currently provided by Fandango, Live Nation, Lufthansa, MLB.com At Bat, Sephora to Go, Ticketmaster and Walgreens.

Cool. Now imagine how much cooler it would have been if you could have just tapped your phone and used those tickets or coupons, using NFC, instead of having to pull them up individually.
