The folks over at iPhone Dev-Team have already had enough time with iOS 6, which was released in its final form yesterday, that they were able to jailbreak it for several iOS devices. Unfortunately, the release isn’t yet available for the iPhone 5. However, you’re in luck if you own an A4-based iPhone, the fourth generation iPod touch or the iPhone 3GS. There are a few additional points worth mentioning, however.
The Redsn0w jailbreak is only tethered, which means you’ll need to keep your device connected to your computer whenever you reboot your smartphone. RedmondPie also recommends that you don’t apply the update if you rely on your device being unlocked. We recommend you either wait until a untethered option is available, or use this only if you know what you’re doing. Unless, of course, you want an excuse to pick up an iPhone 5 after you brick your iPhone 4.
