Nintendo’s Japanese website has the first look at the new Circle Pad Pro attachment designed for gamers who want a second analog option for their 3DS XL. As if Nintendo’s mammoth handheld needed to be any larger, the 3DS is starting to look like a poor SEGA Genesis burdened with the weight of a 32X and SEGA CD attachment. We’re pretty sure astronauts in the ISS can make out which game you are playing at this point.
A second circle pad on the actual device was tossed aside to leave way for more battery life. This is an affordable option to remedy that decision and give you more choice of how to control your games. The original 3DS’ Control Pad Pro goes for a bout $25 on Amazon used, so I expect this will be priced roughly the same.
Only a handful of games can make use of the attachment including Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Resident Evil: Revelations. A full list can be found here.
Nothing has been confirmed for America yet, but it’s bound to happened eventually.
