The official Twitter app for iOS has received a massive new update today, introducing a number of new features and a brand new look for iPad. The app now boasts the same design across all iOS devices, and offers fancy new profiles with large header photos, photo streams, and more.
Twitter overhauled its iPhone app back in July, introducing a brand new look that completely quashed any traces of Tweetie (the app Twitter used to be) and added new features like Connect and Discover. And today’s update brings that new look and those new features to the iPad for the first time. It’s also the first time the iPad app’s design has changed at all since its initial debut back in 2010.
But there’s plenty here for iPhone and iPod touch users, too. Profile pages now sport a fancy header image — much like those recently introduced to Facebook profiles — and you can see them both within the Twitter app and on the Twitter website. What’s more, you can view users’ photo streams from their profile page, which puts all of the images they’ve uploaded into one place.
Finally, Twitter 5.0 includes “other improvements, polish, and fixes,” according to its release notes. You find the update in the App Store now.
