We’ve heard rumors that HTC is interested in launching a phablet and, now, it appears that a large device dubbed the DROID Incredible X is headed to Verizon Wireless. The specs were revealed over the weekend, when we learned it will allegedly pack a 5-inch display with a 1080p HD resolution, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 1.5GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. Like the One X, the device will reportedly not offer a removable battery or exapandable storage. The name isn’t set in stone just yet, but HTC is reportedly calling it the Dlx internally, which certainly hints at the “DROID Incredible X” moniker. It’s also possible that the quad-core processor will instead be replaced with a dual-core processor by launch, according to GottaBeMobile.
I would love a phablet built by HTC, I think the company has a killer hardware focus and releases amazing devices, such as the One X. Unfortunately, however, I’m pretty sure that the company’s Sept. 19 event will focus around its new One X+ and, I think it’s possible that we might hear about the firm’s upcoming Windows Phone 8 devices. As for the DROID Incredible X? I think it’s too soon and that we’ll likely hear more about it before the holidays.
