Microsoft just issued press invites to a press event in New York City on Thursday, Oct. 25 during which it will officially launch Windows 8. We don’t yet know where the event will take place, or at what time, but the invite confirms that press are invited to “celebrate Windows 8.”  The operating system will officially be available to the public the following day, Oct. 26, in tandem with the launch of Microsoft’s Surface tablets and Windows RT.

We’re hoping to be there to celebrate with Microsoft. We’ve been running the consumer preview of Windows 8 for the past several weeks and really enjoy the experience so far.
