iPhone 5 Coming to Select Cricket Wireless Markets on Sept. 28

cricket-wireless-featuredCricket will be the first prepaid carrier in the U.S. to offer Apple’s new iPhone 5. The carrier announced on Wednesday that the device will be available in select markets starting Sept. 28, about a week after the device launches on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. No price point has been shared, but it’s likely the device will land for what the iPhone 4S currently costs unlocked: $649 for the 16GB version. It’s good news for Cricket subscribers because the carrier is scooping up Apple’s handset almost immediately after its initial release; earlier this year, Cricket’s iPhone 4S landed in June, far removed from the device’s October 2011 launch.
