Apple Shutting Down iTunes Ping Social Network on Sept. 30

Apple has officially announced that it’s shutting down its failed Ping iTunes social network on Sept. 30. It said on Thursday the service is no longer accepting new members.

Ping has been around for two years, since Sept. 2010, and currently serves as a way for iTunes users to follow friends and celebrities and their music listening habits. We didn’t use the service much here at TechnoBuffalo and, ultimately, we’re not surprised Apple is shutting the doors on the service.
