Wondering whether that great new feature in iOS 6 will work where you are? Believe it or not, not everything in iOS 6 will work internationally. The Flyover feature in Apple’s new Maps app, for example, is still limited to big cities, while certain Siri features will only work in a select few countries.
If you’re in the United States, then you’re lucky, because you can be sure everything will work exactly as Apple intended. But for those of us who don’t, Apple has made it easy to see which iOS 6 features are supported in which countries.
The company has added a new “iOS 6 Feature Availability” page to its website which lists almost everything that’s new to iOS 6, including turn-by-turn navigation and 3D buildings in Maps; sports scores, movie showtimes, and local search in Siri; and Dictation, the iTunes Store, and the App Store.
Click on any one of those features and you’ll see a list of countries in which it is supported. Hopefully, yours will be there, and you should be pretty safe if you live in a market where the iPhone has long been available. But if your country isn’t listed under one of the new features, it’s likely Apple is already working to change that.
Does your favorite iOS 6 feature work where you are?
