I have some hope that Resident Evil 6 will be a fun game, but it seems like the inhibitors of Capcom’s fictional universe don’t have much to hope for these days. Resident Evil 6′s latest pair of trailers paint the world a horrible hopeless place with no future or chance for redemption.
Capcom seems to be attempting to tap the emotional chords that the incredible Dead Island trailer did. The forlorn faces of helpless of humans at the mercy of a heartless enemy set amongst burning buildings, lost cities and a heart strings piano theme. It’s a bleak and barren mood, that’s for sure; but, the thing is, I know this is just a tale about a few overly acrobatic dudes shooing zombies, and this emotional impact will most likely be restricted to the trailer. It’s certainly a nice change of pace from the noisy trailers we’ve seen so far, but my guess is that it’s a little misleading, just the the Dead Island trailer.
The second trailer is an awkward cinematic trailer of terrified victims huddling, praying and preparing for death.
In the meantime, it seems Microsoft has thrown a couple of dollars Capcom’s way. The official Xbox 360 page for the game is reporting that there will be three timed exclusive gameplay modes available soon after launch. Capcom and Microsoft have not yet disclosed the downloadable pack’s contents, but more will be known after the game is launched next month.
Resident Evil 6 will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 2nd.
