Arkane Studios and Bethesda are back with a brand new developer’s diary for Dishonored, the brand new IP launching later this fall.
In the first video, the folks from Arkane Studios took time to explain exactly how open and unique they’re attempting to make the world of Dishonored. As one of the studio’s employees explained, and this isn’t verbatim: You can go left, you can go right, you can possess a fish.
This time around, the team has elected to focus specifically on what they’ve been doing in order to present a strong and satisfying level of immersion.
Immersion is what sucks you into the world of a video game. When you’re playing a title with great immersion, you’ll often lose track of time as you dive into every nook and cranny the virtual world has to offer. You lose yourself in the experience willingly.
Red Dead Redemption is always a game I bring up in any discussion about immersion. The title’s art style, its sound design, its characters and its music all pulled together to create an incredibly engrossing and immersive world.
How will Dishonored stand in that category? Things look great, but only time will tell.
