Google Nexus 7’s Front-Facing Camera Records 720p Video With Simple Mod

Did you know your Google Nexus 7 tablet has the ability to recording 720p video with its front-facing camera? The problem is, Google forgot to (or just chose not to) install the media profile required to tell the tablet it’s capable of such things. Fortunately for you, it’s pretty simple to do this yourself.

Users over at the XDA Developers forum have discovered a mod that enables 720p video recording with the Nexus 7’s front-facing camera. You’ll need to be fairly competent to install it, but it’s not all that difficult at all, and you can do with or without a computer.

Given the fact that the Nexus 7’s camera isn’t all that spectacular to begin with, the results aren’t groundbreaking. However, there is a noticeable improvement over the 480p video the device records by default.

If you’re giving this mod a try, let us know how you get on.
