The name of the game in Dishonored is choice. At least, that’s what all the marketing and preview buzz surrounding the title has lead the gaming world to believe.
In this new developer diary series, Arkane Studios employees have taken to video in order to explain and highlight the work that’s been done in order to create the world and campaign of Dishonored. In their words, this living and breathing area is an exploration in narrative and choice.
You can go left, you can go right, you can possess a fish.
Dishonored is an ambitious foray in game design. Creating a title that supposedly lets players approach each and every situation with their own play-style in mind is tough work. With this game, players will be able to do things like kill everyone in sight or spare the lives of every living creature. You can go stealth, you can rush, you can explore or you can complete. Dishonored touts its facets of choice.
Published by Bethesda and developed by the brand new Arkane Studios, Dishonored takes a risk as being a completely new IP that’s launching in the latter stages of a console life cycle.
Dishonored is currently slated to release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on October 9th in North America.
