Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Announced, Heading to PSN and XBLA

Just when you thought Juarez was going to stop calling, here he is again.

After venturing rather unsuccessfully into modern times with Call of Juarez: The Cartel last year, the series is back and heading to the Old West again with Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.

Little is known about Gunslinger at this point. The game has been given a broad “early 2013” release date, with Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC as the destination platforms.

The Juarez series, along with Techland’s other creations (Dead Island), has always been first-person, and Gunslinger will carry on the tradition.

In a hands-on with the game, Joystiq wrote that the game focuses on elements that worked well in Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, with stylish, frantic shooting. Successful shots display points on-screen, and those points can then be spent on skill upgrades.

No word currently on the presentation (beyond the live action trailer above) or game length. The screenshots included are suggestive of the gritty look of westerns like Red Dead Redemption, but the download nature of the game might restrict the playstyle to something more like a shooting gallery or, at least, more limited stages.
