Last year at E3 2011, Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games announced their first multiplatform original IP titled Overstrike with a quirky and funny cinematic trailer. A year later, nothing else is known about the game, and the title was solemnly missed at E3 2012. What happened to the interesting game remained unknown for quite some time, but Insomniac revealed something new at PAX that might answer a few questions.
When asked about Overstrike at PAX last weekend, CEO Ted Price said nothing about the title other than directing reporters to Fusegame.com, which currently shows nothing more than a countdown clock. A single screenshot of this new Fuse game was also released, and it bears a huge resemblance to the lead character and art style found in the original Overstrike trailer.
We say “possibly” because of how strangely tight-lipped Insomniac Games is being about this change in title. Even with all the evidence in the world in their face, a PR guy still will give a textbook answer.
“We’re very deliberate in what we’re showing right now, and that’s why we’re just pointing people to the website and saying, ‘Hey, this is a process. We’re going to share more information with you, stay tuned.'”
Sheesh, relax guys. So you changed the title to a game we knew very little about. Big deal. Guess we’ll find out more about this “new” Fuse game in 6 days once the countdown ends. Insomniac also has a press conference scheduled with a new unannounced title ready for reveal. Wonder what it could be.
