When Apple’s iPhone 5 hits, it’ll likely come equipped with a pint-sized dock connector with MagSafe-like tech. Great! But what about all those accessories? There better be some kind of adapter. According to iLounge, who has an excellent track record, there will be, and it’ll come in at $10 a pop.
The weird thing is, Apple will apparently be the only one to offer the dock connector adapter from the outset, with third parties set to get involved later. In addition to the $10 price tag, Apple will also offer up a three-pack option for $29 — most iPhone users probably own more than one accessory, so a three-pack makes sense.
Apple doing Apple things. To appease its enormous fanbase, the company should really include an adapter with each iPhone 5 for free, but it doesn’t sound like that’ll be the case. The company, according to iLounge, is projecting it’ll generate upwards of $100 million in revenue this year alone from the adapters, so it’s no wonder they won’t be free.
