A while back, Warren Spector and the folks at Junction Point announced Disney Epic Mickey 2. At the time, they said they were working on a musical game. Back then, we weren’t sure what they meant. Now? We know.
Musical numbers are an actual plot driving feature in Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. Characters will, as Warren Spector explains in the video above, actually express themselves in song.
Sound familiar? It should, if you grew up watching Disney flicks. Movies like The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Mulan were all part of this particular golden age of Disney animation where musicals reigned supreme. It looks like Epic Mickey 2 will try and capture some of that same magic.
I’ll admit it: I’m a nut for Disney stuff. I dig the parks, love the flicks and think Mickey Mouse is a pretty cool dude. If Epic Mickey 2 can spark some love with this musical take on gaming narratives (and fix the original’s problematic camera system), it might just be something truly special.
Epic Mickey 2 will launch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii this November 18th in North America. Are any of you folks interested?
