Google Play Now Recommends Apps Based on What’s Popular in Your Area

recommended-for-you-google-playAre you a Netflix kind of person? Plants vs. Zombies? If so, Android’s Google Play store has app recommendations for you. The search giant on Friday made the feature live right under our noses, using information from you, your friends and location to apparently determine which apps you might enjoy.

Finding the store’s new feature is easy enough; simply navigate to Apps and then scroll down to Recommended for You. Your information ties into Google+, which the algorithm uses to tell you what else is popular among the same like-minded individuals. If you disagree with what’s recommended, simply dismiss an app by clicking the “No symbol” icon.

App stores can be maze-like in their nearly limitless app choices. Recommended for You takes some of the pain out of the searching experience. And hey, you might even come across something you may not have otherwise found. Can’t complain about that.
