New Professor Layton Game on the 3DS will be his Last

During this morning’s Nintendo Direct feed, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino made an appearance to announce the next and last in the Professor Layton puzzle adventure series.

Professor Layton and the Legacy of the Super Civilization will bring the popular character and his brilliant detective skills to the Nintendo 3DS for the first time, and it will take full advantage of the platform’s 3D technology to create entirely new puzzles.

Apparently, this will also be the final game in the Professor Layton series as well as Hino announced. I guess there are just so many puzzles out there in the world. We’ll just see how his tune changes when he sees the sales figures and falls in line with all the developers who backtrack on that lie.

If it’s true though, I’m not that upset. I’d much rather see Level-5 focus their talents on more handheld RPGs. No need to tie themselves to the same brand name for the rest of time

Level-5 is aiming for Professor Layton and the Legacy of the Super Civilization to be released sometime in 2013.
