The PS Vita’s latest software update will be rolling out today, and it’s one you’ll want t0 install as soon as it drops. The v1.80 release boasts a number of awesome number features, including Cross-Controller functionality, which will allow you to use your handheld as a PlayStation 3 controller (with supported games); improvements to core applications; and best of all, the ability to play PSone Classics.
In case you’d forgotten this update was on its way (as if!), Sony has published a new three-minute demonstration video that shows off all the features it brings — which you can watch below:
The PS Vita will support nine PSone Classics from day one, including:
- Arc the Lad
- Cool Boarders 2
- FINAL FANTASY VII
- Hot Shots Golf 2
- Jet Moto
- Syphon Filter
- Tomb Raider
- Twisted Metal 2
- Wild Arms
It is a shame there aren’t more available, but Sony promises new games will be added to the collection every single week. All of these titles will be available to download from the PlayStation Store, and of course, if you’ve purchased them before, you can download them again for free.
When the update drops, you’ll be able to download it directly onto your PS Vita over Wi-Fi, or by connecting the console to your PlayStation 3 or PC.
