The HTC Proto, which we heard about earlier this month, is reportedly on its way as a follow up to the One V. The device could be HTC’s next big play in the mid-range smartphone market. The company has been relatively quiet since it introduced its One lineup earlier this year, but HTC previously revealed it would take a more measured approach to device launches in an effort to avoid oversaturating the market.
The device will apparently deviate from the One V’s design, though its specs more closely match the V’s innards. The Proto will allegedly pack a 4-inch WVGA display, 5-megapixel camera and 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, The Verge said. There’s been no mention of what version of Android it will launch with, however. It’s unclear when the device will be unveiled, but with IFA quickly approaching, one would assume HTC may use the event as a platform to kick off the next onslaught of its flagship handsets.
