Facebook’s Redesigned Messages Introduces New Two-Panel View

facebook-messages-two-panel-designFacebook’s design isn’t widely known for its elegance. With ads and trending articles filling up news feeds, the social network has become one big hoard of digital content. But slowly things have been getting better, and on Wednesday, Facebook announced its messages platform is receiving a much-needed new look.

The side-by-side layout is familiar — used by pretty much every available chat client out there — and its exponentially easier to use. Simply click on a message in the left panel, and your conversation will show up on the right. “You can also bring conversations to life with multiple photos and emoticons,” Facebook said. Really, now?!

The new look is supposed to be rolling out now, although I haven’t seen the reflected changes; it may be a different story for other Facebook users. The design looks much better, and unravels yet another strand in the social network’s unruly knotted mess.
