Skype on Tuesday updated its iOS application for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch with a new photo sharing options and performance enhancements. The photo sharing options allows users to share a photo during a Skype chat. There isn’t a size limit to the photo you send, either, which is one benefit to using Skype chat over using MMS.
The company also said that it improved the application’s performance so that it doesn’t suck as much battery life while it’s running in the background of your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. That means you’ll be able to leave the application running longer so that you can receive new messages or Skype calls without having to worry about your phone dying. We haven’t given this a test just yet, but we know it has been a concern in the past. Skype also said that the app will start and load contacts faster than ever before.
The update is free and is available for any iPad, the iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4 and 4S as well as the second and third generation iPod touch.
