The entry-level addition to Sony’s latest Xperia lineup has been leaked ahead of its official debut. It is codenamed the ST26i — but will reportedly be known as the Xperia J when it gets its unveiling — and it features a 4-inch display with a low 640 x 480 resolution, capacitive buttons, and relatively low-end specifications.
That’s to be expected from an entry-level device, of course. The Xperia J is said to feature the same 800MHz Qualcomm processor that appears in the Xperia tipo, which will be accompanied by 512MB of RAM, and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. It will reportedly feature a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash, and a front-facing shooter that is yet to be revealed.
The device will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, but it will be an “older” version of Sony’s software, according to Android Central.
Again, this is obviously a budget devices — the specifications and the image above make that pretty obvious. But the fact that it comes from Sony and runs Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box could make it one of the best choices for budget users. Those specifications could change, of course, so keep you eye on IFA 2012 in Berlin where the Xperia J is expected to make its official debut.
