Research In Motion Announces Standardized BlackBerry 10 Resolutions

BlackBerry 10 in actionResearch In Motion took a moment on Wednesday to confirm that it’s upcoming BlackBerry 10 devices will come with standardized screen resolutions of 1,280 x 720 (full touch) and 720 x 720 (QWERTY). The company announced the news in order for developers to begin planning for the road ahead, which still doesn’t quite have an end in sight. The very first BB10 flagship device will actually have a different resolution (1,280 x 728) because it’s been in the works for so long, so anyone who picks that up will have a bit of a collector’s item. The decision to standardize resolutions was influenced by developers, RIM said, and helps the company provide an easier ecosystem to develop for.
