Apple: Retail Layoffs Were a Mistake, Staff Changes Being Reversed

A report surfaced earlier this week that suggested Apple was laying off recent hires in its retail stores and cutting back hours. It sounded a bit fishy, since Apple has a ton of cash on hand and it continues to expand its retail presence. Well, it turns out that it was happening, but by accident.

Apple confirmed with Dow Jones on Thursday that it’s still hiring and that the rumors are “misleading.” Apple did make changes to its retail staff, but they were a “mistake and staffing changes are being reversed,” Dow Jones said. Apple told the news service that its employees are the company’s “most important asset.”

This is all according to Bloomberg news terminals, as spotted by Business Insider, although the full story has yet to hit the web. We’ll keep you updated if there are any changes.
