Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation is the first in the franchise to grace a Sony’s newest gaming system, the PS Vita. The portable entry is set to feature a slew of handheld-specific control options. A few of them are featured in the trailer at the head of this post.
While I absolutely love the idea of Assassin’s Creed on a portable like the PlayStation Vita, I’m not entirely sold on the list of features fired off in the clip above. Jamming touch controls into an experience that doesn’t need them is an unfortunate element of designing games for new platforms.
That same tactic, in my opinion, hampered the style of Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Nate’s portable adventure on the PS Vita featured tons of force touch controls. They hurt the experience, in my opinion, and would have been better off shelved entirely.
I’ll definitely be checking Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation out when it launches for the PS Vita this October; however, I’m a little way of the touch elements involved. What say you folks?
