T-Mobile has announced that its SpringBoard tablet will receive the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in the United States this week, more than three months after the software made its debut on the slate’s international variant.
Users will be able to download the upgrade over-the-air on Wednesday, according to T-Mobile’s website. And in addition to the usual improvements and user interface changes that Ice Cream Sandwich brings, the release will also include the following changes:
- UI performance improvements (improved touch experience)
- Unrecognized SIM Card Error
- Power and Reboot Fixes
- Wi-Fi Connection Improvement
- Improved Memory Allocation – critical update to allow device to receive future OS updates
That last change is the one drawing lots of attention today, because it mentions “future OS updates” — suggesting that the SpringBoard could get an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean release later on.
Are you looking forward to receiving Ice Cream Sandwich on your SpringBoard?
