Konami is looking to set things right after a wave of negative press surrounded its decision to cancel the Silent Hill HD Collection Xbox 360 update patch. Without the patch, the game remains a junky mess filled with frame rate issues and audio that isn’t synched up to the visuals. The PlayStation 3 version did receive the needed patch.
As posted on the Official Silent Hill Facebook Page, if you purchased a new copy of the game from any recognized retailer and still have the receipt, you can snail mail it to the Konami Customer Service and see your options for an exchange. The offer is only available for the Xbox 360 version of the game, and only if the game was purchased on or before August 8th, 2012, the day the news broke.
Requests must be made before October 7th, or they will not fall under the exchange program. Konami hasn’t officially listed what options will be available, but a post later on the Facebook wall revealed that “the exchange is for other Konami titles or versions of titles.”
All is good and well as Konami is owning up to its bad port, but I guess only for people who save their receipts. The buggy Xbox 360 version is still available on the market, so please purchase the PlayStation 3 version if you really need your Silent Hill fix in HD.
