Google Now Made Available on Rooted Ice Cream Sandwich Devices

google-now-google-search-jelly-beanIf you haven’t acquainted yourself with Google Now, it’s basically an oracle-like system that keeps users constantly up-to-date with important information. How long is your commute home? Google Now knows. What cool bars are in your area? Google Now will tell you, according to your location.

Right now, it’s a Jelly Bean exclusive, so if you don’t have a Galaxy Nexus, you’re out of luck. But thanks to the ever-impressive XDA Developers, the feature is now available on all Ice Cream Sandwich handsets through a simple flashable ZIP.

The only requirement is that your phone be rooted and running an Ice Cream Sandwich-based ROM. After that, simply download the ZIP to your device and flash it from recovery mode. The XDA forum has step-by-step instructions so, if you want one of  Jelly Bean’s coolest features, hit it up if you’re feeling brave.
