The Kickstarter program for the OUYA console has come to an end, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still get in on obtaining one of these new consoles when they launch.
The OUYA Kickstarter page closed down in the wee hours this morning Eastern time, and reached a funding level of $8,596,475 from 63,416 backers. Not bad when you consider the original goal was $950,000. The big question now is, if you missed out on funding the project, how can you get your hands on this Android-powered device?
Well, there is good news and some very slightly bad news. First, you can head over to OUYA.tv, and you can pre-order the console from there. The bad news is it will be about $10 more than if you had backed the original campaign. An OUYA console with one controller will now set you back $109 as opposed to the $99 you could get away with during the Kickstarter days, and while it may sting slightly, it’s certainly not the worst uptick in price the company could have gone with.
Those that ordered from the Ouya Kickstarter have been told they will receive their consoles in March 2013, those that go through the pre-order can expect them to arrive in April.
