We reviewed Samsung’s entry-level $249 Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet back in April and stepped away impressed. It offered a more robust experience than Amazon’s Kindle Fire for just $50 more. Now, however, we’d probably point you to the more powerful $199 Nexus 7. Samsung’s not done promoting the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, however. Reports Thursday suggest that it’s working with Best Buy to introduce a new “Student Edition” as soon as August 19.
The Student Edition Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 will reportedly come boxed with a keyboard dock and an accessory for connecting USB gadgets. The new model will apparently still cost $249, despite the additional goodies. That’s hard to believe, but it’s likely Samsung’s way of tackling the Nexus 7. Looks like Samsung aced its marketing classes.
