Gmail in Personal Search Results

Google is launching a new experiment that will allow you to combine Gmail search results with what you find on the Web.

A new experiment launched by Google will allow you see results relevant to your Web search that also happen to be in your Gmail account.  While you currently can search your email from within your Gmail account, this new tool will just allow you to simplify into one easy to use and access location.

To sign up for the trial you need to first go to the sign-up page, and you must also have an @gmail.com address as well as use the English version of the site.  It does state that this is a limited trial and that not everyone will be accepted right away, so you may have to wait some time before you see it take effect.

Should you find it isn’t to your liking, you can return to the sign-up page and exit the trial at any time, but it sounds like it might be something fun to at least try out.  How useful it actually is remains to be seen.
