Facebook Bingo Friendzy

Facebook users in the U.K. can now play online games for real cash prizes, thanks to the launch of a new app called Bingo Friendzy from Gamesys. It’s the first time ever users will be given the opportunity to play for cash on the social network, but of course, they’ll have to be at least 18 to join in.

Gamesys operates, the U.K.’s leading bingo website, and its latest game brings a series of 90-ball bingo and slots games to Facebook with real cash prizes. Julien Codorniou, Facebook’s Head of EMEA Gaming Partnerships, says the company is delighted to be working with Gamesys:

“People love playing new types of games with their friends on Facebook and real money gaming is a popular leisure activity in the UK. We’re delighted to be working with Gamesys to enable them to offer their games on Facebook so that people can enjoy playing more games with their friends.”

Facebook is eyeing further partnerships that will bring gambling titles to Facebook to kickstart the new genre, which is likely to be hugely popular. Furthermore, gamers will have access to the same features they’d expect from a dedicated gambling site, such as self-help tools that limit spending and the amount of time spent playing.

There will also be controls to ensure that users under 18 and “vulnerable people” cannot access these games.
