Dragon’s Dogma Getting an “Easy Mode” Patch

Dragon's DogmaIs Capcom’s open-world RPG Dragon’s Dogma taking its toll on your patience? What more did you expect from the guy who made Devil May Cry 3? *shudders*

Luckily, salvation might not be too far in the distance. Capcom will be releasing a patch that will add an optional “easy mode” to their grueling game. Dragon’s Dogma’s steep learning curve turned up quite a bit in critics’ reviews, especially in the form of unavoidable bandit ambushes and surprise battle with enormous monsters.

Already touting the year’s biggest sleeper hit, Capcom obviously wants to seize the momentum by easing fan complaints and expanding the audience into the crowds who don’t like overkill difficulty levels. Word of mouth plays a huge roll in cult successes like Dragon’s Dogma, so Capcom needs to keep everyone as happy as possible.

Currently, the patch is only confirmed for Japan, and it will be updated on August 6th. No word yet on an American release, but I doubt it’s not too far off.
