Amazon released its Instant Video application for iPad, which allows Amazon Prime members to stream movies and television shows right to their tablets. There’s also an offline mode that allows users to download content and cache it for offline viewing. As with all of Amazon’s products, the iPad Instant Video application supports Whispersync, which means you can start watching a movie on your PC and resume exactly where you left off on your iPad. 9to5Mac tried using AirPlay with the application, but found that only audio works at this time.

Amazon has not released an iPhone app yet, but we suspect that’s in the pipeline. The Instant Video application is a free video but, as we noted, you’ll need to be one of Amazon’s Prime subscribers ($79 per year) in order to take advantage of it.
